- Classes will take place on Zoom. You will receive a link to join the class 24-36 hours prior to class. Watch for the email and check your spam folder. It is important to be registered on EmbroideryGarden.com with a valid email address that you check daily as class information will be sent to the email address we have on record. Please read the email you receive carefully.
- You may need to download Zoom or the Zoom App. Please login prior to the start of class to check your audio and video. We will not be able to help you with any technical issues you may have. Click here for a video showing you how to check your audio and video.
- You will be placed in the waiting room and will need to enter the class with your name as it appears on our website otherwise you may not be admitted. Please read the posted announcement in the waiting room.
- You will be muted upon entering the class. Do not un-mute yourself unless you are asked to.
- Classes are announced up to 2 weeks before the start date to give you time to prepare for the class and get your supplies ready.
- You will be emailed the link to the replay video after class ends.
- Do not wait until the last minute to check that you have received the emails with the class link or the video replay link. Check your spam. It’s your responsibility to make sure you have received all info regarding your class.
- Class size will be limited. The same project will be offered in several classes. Each class is a separate purchase.
Requirements for the class:
- A working sewing machine that you know how to use with a zigzag or overcasting stitch
- This project can also be made on a Serger using a 3 or 4 thread overlock stitch. You need to know how to set your machine up for that stitch and how to use it.
- Have reliable internet and any device you will be watching on, fully charged
- Ability to download and use Zoom
- Take note of the day and time of your class
- A valid email address that you check regularly as class info and links will be sent to the email address you have on file on our website.
To prepare for class you will need to:
- Have any and all necessary notions and supplies ready including thread and full bobbins
- Download the instructions (PDF) from your order history on the website
- Have the Peltex strips cut
- Have the fabric strips cut
This page is to purchase the Woven Fabric Box Class and instructions
This class is a collaboration between Needle Quirks and Embroidery Garden.
In this class you will create a small woven fabric box using fabric strips and Peltex©. You will learn how to prepare the fabrics and apply fusible Peltex© that can then be woven into a small box with a handle, suitable for use as an Easter Basket. You will learn tips for accurately cutting and preparing your Peltex© strips as well as your fabric strips. You will learn how to audition and choose decorative stitches and apply them to the fabric strips. You will learn how to weave the fabric strips into a small box. You will learn several alternatives for finishing the box. You will learn ideas for embellishing the box to suit your creativity. This box is so versatile that it can also be used as a flower box, gift box, tissue box holder, housewarming gift holder, or catch-all for small items, etc.
Basic supplies needed for this class include the following.
- Sewing thread to coordinate or contrast with your fabrics. NOTE: We used 40 weight embroidery thread for our samples. Variegated thread also works well.
- 2 – 3 Full bobbins with coordinating or contrasting thread
- Hot glue gun and hot glue
- Ruler or tape measure
- Sharp pair of scissors or pinking shears
- Sewing Machine with an overcasting stitch or zig zag stitch
- Double-sided Peltex
- Fabric of your choice
- Optional: Fabric clips, embellishments for box
